How it works
- 1
Drop in your CSV. Barcode columns (UPC, EAN, GTIN, Barcode) are found automatically.
- 2
Leading zeros and scientific notation are repaired only when the barcode's check digit proves the result.
- 3
Download the repaired file and check the list of barcodes that need your attention.
Questions
How can you be sure a leading zero is right?
Every UPC and EAN ends in a check digit calculated from the others. A zero is only added when the padded code passes that check, so the repair can be proven.
Can 1.23457E+11 be restored?
Not from that text: Excel kept only six digits. If the file still has every digit (for example 1.23456789012E+11), it is expanded. Otherwise the cell is flagged so you can copy the barcode again.
Which platforms need valid barcodes?
Shopify stores them as text, Google Shopping and Amazon check GTINs, and many marketplaces reject invalid ones. A barcode with a missing zero is a different product.
